Carla Murray | Lease Administration Manager

Carla Murray

What do you love about your career?

I love everything about lease administration! There’s never a dull moment in this department. We get to work with a lot of departments and meet new and exciting people. I love the fact that we are involved with the tenants from the beginning to the end.

Tell us something that is inspirationally important to you.

I have experienced the loss of two individuals that I loved very much in the past six months. One was an infant that I said hello and goodbye to at the same time; the other was an 18 year old who was just starting life, and his life was cut short. As I tried to be strong for others and provide encouraging words, I ran across this quote that has kept me going: “Everything is going to be okay. Maybe not today, but eventually it will. Trust God. Hold fast to your hope. God never fails.” (Quote from the The Horse Mafia)

What advice would you give to someone starting their career?

I would tell someone starting their career to be passionate about what you do. Do the best you can. If you mess up, don’t give up. Attach yourself to someone who has a lot of knowledge in a lot of things. Don’t stop wanting to learn. Be kind to everyone you meet. Treat people how you want to be treated.

What advice have you received that has helped you in your career?

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again. Don’t give up! Quitters never win, and winners never quit!

What does “success” mean to you?:

Success means you’ve done the best you can. You may not be perfect, but you have given your all. Success means you can look in the mirror and smile at the person who is looking back at you.

What makes a good role model? Have you had one that has made an impact in your life/career?

A good role model is smart and professional, and demonstrates the perfect work-life balance. A good role model is willing to help whenever there’s a need. A good role model gives it to you straight, yet does not come off as condescending or belittling; they value you, and want to see you grow and succeed. I can truly say that all the women here at Hiffman have poured into me both mentally and emotionally.

What are the things that have helped you excel in your life/career?

My belief and trust in God has helped me in my life and career.
