Over $80,000 raised at DSCC’s “Dancing with the Starz”
Chicago Metro celebrities put on their dancing shoes to benefit the elderly at the 3rd annual “Dancing with the Starz” Gala, hosted by the DuPage Senior Citizens Council (DSCC). On May 10th at the Drury Lane Grand Ballroom, Oakbrook Terrace, guests were treated to the elegant moves of Chris Gary – NAI Hiffman; former NIU and Bears player Garret Wolfe; Mario Turano – Turano Bakery; Kye Martin – NBC 5 Morning News, Disa DiBuono – Zazz Productions/Tufanos; Joe Skrypek – Clarendon Hills Fire Department; Nicole D’Ambrosio – D’Ambrosio Incorporated; David McGowan – DuPage Community Foundation; Tobin Baum – Heartland Hospice; Mary Van DeVelde – WGN Radio; Matthew Krolak – DuPage Senior Citizens Council; and Clare Bongiovanni of the Darien Chamber of Commerce.
Dance Pros from the Fred Astaire Dance Studio partnered with the local talent and then provided additional entertainment to enhance the evening. Those who attended enjoyed bidding on live auction experiences including a dining experience for 10 people with gourmet Chef Scott Fischer, TV show Master Chef winner. Lucky auction and raffle ticket winners went home with a trip to Hawaii, Chicago sports team tickets, and a puppy, as well as many other prizes.
According to Executive Director, Marylin Krolak, “The Gala was better than we ever imagined it could be thanks to our Celebrity Dancers, Fred Astaire Dance Studios and our Event Chair, Lisa Turano. But the true stars are the seniors who benefit from the programs and services DSCC provides throughout DuPage County.”
