Why did you decide to go into commercial real estate?
I was introduced to the CRE industry through my first job out of college as a marketing assistant for a small family-owned company, where I had experiences and gained knowledge about all things commercial real estate, marketing, leasing, tours, etc. Through those experiences, I realized I enjoyed working in an industry that was always changing and provided me with the ability to learn different aspects, business lines, etc. of commercial real estate.
Why do you think it is important for women to be active in CRE, especially CRE leadership?
It is important to show other women that may be interested in CRE and CRE leadership that there is someone like them, who more than likely walked a similar career path and became successful in the industry. I know when I began in the industry and for many years following, it seemed it was a male-dominated field, but as years have passed I have been in rooms with more women holding various CRE positions.
