Linda Clayton | Senior Property Manager

Linda Clayton

Why did you decide to go into commercial real estate?

I’ve been involved in property management since I was in my early 20’s. I answered an ad for a leasing agent in multi-family and liked it. I worked my way up to Property Manager and then decided to try retail leasing and management. I was the Director of Leasing and General Manager for four Houston regional/super regional shopping malls and multiple retail strip centers for almost 20 years. For the past 5+ years, I have been a Senior Property Manager for commercial office buildings.

I don’t recall it ever being tough… trying at times, but overall, it has been a great career.

What resources have been invaluable to you?:

A great mentor and having good working relationships with other managers as well as corporate staff. CREW Houston has been great.

What advice do you have for women pursuing a career in CRE?:

Find a great mentor. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Surround yourself with positive people who have a good work ethic.
