Zainab Tapal | Marketing Coordinator

Why did you decide to go into commercial real estate?

I always wanted to pursue a career and continue growing in marketing and design. With my growing interest in architecture and art, I have had the pleasure of being in the industry working with different departments in real estate for over 12 years.

What was the toughest challenge you faced when you were starting out?

As a Marketing Coordinator, working with different people, different levels of interests, personalities and knowing how to portray marketing materials to best suit their listings and marketing needs.

What resources have been invaluable to you?

Coworkers throughout my time have been the best resources in advancing with the best practices for the market.

Share a story about a time you were inspired by the story or words of a woman in CRE.

Though I’ve been at NAI Hiffman for less than a year, I’ve met great coworkers and I’m getting to know more amazing women. In my previous team, one of my lead brokers was Meredith O’Connor. She was an amazing top broker, involved with so much, always shared family stories with her busy life and kids, and always walked in the office with a 110% attitude and a smile. She always encouraged women regardless of title in the industry and cared so much about others as a person.

Why do you think it is important for women to be active in CRE, especially CRE leadership?

Women see and deal with people differently.

What advice do you have for women pursuing a career in CRE?

I always support women owned small business (WOSB) and entrepreneurship, especially local markets and art fairs. If people put their hard work into it, let’s acknowledge their time and efforts rather than buying something branded which doesn’t need any marketing efforts!
