Bob Assoian named to Midwest Real Estate Hall of Fame for 2017
We’re proud to announce Bob Assoian, Managing Director with our Management Services Group, has been named to Midwest Real Estate’s Hall of Fame for 2017.
Bob Assoian has enjoyed a 30-year foothold in commercial real estate. By the age of 26, when he made his move to Chicago from Connecticut, he worked as an asset manager on a variety of Chicago-area real estate parcels. With asset management experience under his belt, he has worked directly for institutional owners and as a management services market leader with several major real estate service providers in Chicago. Assoian is responsible for NAI Hiffman’s Management Services Group in Chicago. The company currently has 70 million square feet of third-party management and leasing assignments for more than 50 management clients ranging from private investors to some of the largest institutional holders.
Assoian is no stranger to success or big numbers. Before moving to NAI Hiffman, Assoian led the $1.3 billion Midwest asset management region for Grubb & Ellis Realty Investors, which is the investment management arm of the company.
For the-long term: Assoian has a distinctive track record of building long-term client relationships. He has the talent to consistantly bring in new business, while growing existing client relationships. Since joining NAI Hiffman in 2012, Assoian has played a key role in growing the firm’s property management assignments with new and existing long-time clients.
Healthy competition: A city the size of Chicago offers endless possibilities. But because of that formidible scope, it also offers no short-age of competition. According to Assoian, as opposed to smaller cities, “where there might be one or two companies that handle the institutional needs, Chicago differs in that there are a number of firms that are qualified and capable.” Assoian adds, “The challenge is convincing our clients that our property management platform differentiates from others in the business.”
Reaping success: Success is the harvest of labor. This year, NAI Hiffman won the Property Management Firm of the Year at the 2016 NAIOP Awards of Excellence.
Assoian says regarding the win, “I feel honored to be nominated up against the multinational firms. Our team has learned that when we present pitches or strategies to our clients, we’re not there to talk about ourselves. We’re spending strategic time talking about their building and what ideas we have, and that continues to differentiate us.”
Out-of-office hours: Away from his schedule, Assoian likes the basics – spending time with family on weekends. He likes golfing with his three children, who are all in their 20s.
“I like to golf with my kids,“ Assoian says, “and I’m very happy when I can beat them at it some days.”
